IRC Quiz bot
« on: January 26, 2012, 09:07:40 pm »
Ande proably remembers that lil irc quiz bot I was using (on #random I believe) quite a while ago.

Got this idea of a quiz channel like #evilquiz or something like that with the bot on it asking questions about programming, technology and even general stuff. Upon every answer you get points and there's hints for the questions, top100 ranking, etc..

Used to play it a lot on BG IRC networks years ago and it was quite fun. :)

Latest mod with 23 questions so far: http://www.mediafire.com/?jvv5t6vyqzxbc6e

Yeah, trivia. :P

quiz, trivia, it should be the same, right?

This is what I was using btw. http://upload.evilzone.org/download.php?id=5248259&type=zip

I would gladly translate it back to english.

Here is a modified and halfway translated version with a few sample questions inside:

Luckaly it's already done and I got the script and all that, as you can see in my above post I halfly translated and kinda configured it to connect and join the channel #random + with a few sample questions for testing.

All we need is staff approval.

You are welcome to register an appropriate channel and host the bot there. I'm sure people would play it :)

Unfortunately my computer can't always be on for reasons and one is because of it's loud fans, I can't stand them it's really bad when I'm trying to sleep. :(

I was hoping someone from here could host it 24/7 just like Evilbot is hosted.

EDIT:
Today I modified it a bit more with a few more sample questions also. The bot has been half cleared. Only configuration that I left is connecting to the Evilzone IRC server and joining #evilquiz which I just registered.
If you would like to change it to a different channel, open the file "eggdrop" using Wordpad or another text editor like Notepad++ to avoid messed up lines.
Search for:
Code: [Select]
logfile jpk #evilquiz "logs/chan.log"Change #evilquiz to your desired channel.
Again, search for
Code: [Select]
channel add #evilquiz {and change #evilquiz to desired channel.
Save and close the file.

That ends our configuration.

How to use:
Run the RunOnce batch file, that will generate a new user file into the folder.
Join the channel #evilquiz or the one you changed it to, and do /msg QuizHost hello
That will make the bot your slave and from now on you can command it.

To start the game, do !start
To stop stop it, do !stop
For hints, do !hint
Top10 ranks, !top10
